Letters: Jeers for Lakers’ Lebron; tears for Broncos’ McManus

The King of sore losersNo question, the Nuggets are the best in the West. But No. 6 for the Los Angeles Lakers needs to go to learn better sportsmanship.Without a doubt, the King is one of the greatest of all time, but as a gracious loser and role model for being a good sport, he earns a 0 on his jersey. The King did not stay on the floor at the finish of the game as his teammates did, congratulating fellow players.Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus would shake hands, as did Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio; tennis greats meet at the net; and Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes looked for each other at the end of the game.I believe I made my point that the King should change his name to Le Baby. King, grow up. There will always be room for one more loser.Jay Weinstein, DenverMcManus kicked to the curb too soonRe: “McManus announces the end to nine-year career in Denver,” May 24 sports storyI think the Broncos are going to regret letting Brandon McManus go. And Denver voters should know before election day that two of the candidates for City Council have supported defunding or even abolishing the police, while a third candidate effectively tried to do the same with RTD’s police.Three years ago, Denver was ranked number two in the US News and World Report’s annual “Best Places to Live” survey. In its most recent survey released this past week, Denver fell from 55th to 99th among 150 cities. An obvious factor in Denver’s precipitous fall from the top: crime rates. Denver is listed as the 15th most dangerous place to live in its survey. Let that sink in.Denver is ranked third in motor vehicle theft crime rates and sixth in property crime rates. Current data from the Denver Police Department’s website shows that over a 3-year average, violent crime is up almost 15%, with murders up by 11.5%. We also know that fentanyl cases filed by the Denver District Attorney have doubled ev...Broncos running back Javonte Williams participates in OTAs

A mountain lion has given birth to three female kittens in the Simi Hills, the National Park Service announced. The mother, P-77, birthed P-113, P-114 and P-115 in the past few weeks. When NPS biologists found the kittens, they were 24 days old and nestled in a patch of poison oak between boulders in the hills, which are between the Santa Monica and Santa Susana mountains.Scientists inspected and measured each kitten, as well as tagging them for future tracking. The mother, who was tagged in the Simi Hills 2019, is believed to be 5 or 6 years old, and as an adult, she's settled in a patch between the 101 and 118 freeways, according to the NPS.
